Hi! My name is Catherine, but I also go by Cat and Catti. I’m 26 and have lived in Spain for a big part of my childhood.

I’m an avid fantasy, romantasy, young adult and Sci-Fi reader. I’m one of those people that always has a book in one format or another on her person, not ashamed to say I might occasionally sneak in a chapter or 10 at work, it’s not frequent I swear!

I fell out of love with reading some time ago, but in one of my jobs my friend started a book club and forced me to join, we started with The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni and I then spiralled… Next thing I knew I needed a bookcase for my books, I found ACOTAR and loved it, didn’t love TOG and then I found sprayed edged books and quite honestly that will be my downfall. So thank you for getting me into reading but at the same time curse you! It’s an expensive hobby.

One of my favourite series so far has been the Gem City series by author Astrid Cole. What’s it about and why do I love the series so much? Easy, it’s about Sage also known as the Optimum who has technically know retired from all the wars in the “new world”. She now has a pizzeria in Diamond City with all sorts of funky pizzas (including one with banana on!). She has a squid best friend called Samson (don’t call them squids they don’t like that!). Next thing she knows she is getting dragged into yet another war, the series follows Sage through the trials and tribulations of being one of the best fighters in the world, she meets the infamous Warlord and did I mention lots of awesome fight scenes? If I didn’t then I am now! I love this series due to it’s complexity, not just in the world building and plot but also the characters have such complex emotions it makes the book relatable in a sense. The first book is called Diamond City and I highly recommend.

Since starting my reading back up I have had the honours of being an ARC reader for some amazing up and coming authors, mostly indie. Some of these authors include, Yana Metro – she was my first ever ARC book with Luminiferos An Omen of Light, our beloved Tom Meredith, K. L. Thorne – there is not a book of hers that I haven’t read in fact we have become close friends and Abigail Ehrhardt with Kingdom of Masks and Mourning.

In amongst all this reading I’ve decided for some reason (who knows why), might have been a stroke of insanity but I’ve decided to start writing my own book. It’s a massive work in progress at the moment, I don’t know if it’ll ever get finished or published but I’ve decided to give it a go. Honestly, if you ever feel like writing your own do it! The amount of support I’ve had from people I’ve told has been tremendous.

And one last little tid bit of advise for you all? When people are putting you down take that energy and channel it into something that would put them to shame. In my case I’m channelling past experiences into writing this book (I still think I’m insane and so does my mum).

And with that I’ll love you all and leave you.

Much love always from Cat at Catsbooksta x
